Gas semi-autos?

I’m trying to figure out whether to stick with my Mossberg pump or try one of their newer gas semi-autos. I plan to use it for home defense, some range time and the occasional training class. I’ve been running pump shotguns for years and feel pretty comfortable with them, but after spending some longer days with semi-autos, I’ve noticed how much easier they are on my recoil and fatigue, especially during drills.

Right now, I’m not too worried about price or nostalgia. What I really want to know is how reliable they are with different ammo, how much upkeep they need, how well they last over time, and how they perform when the pressure’s on. I’m looking to hear from people who’ve actually put serious rounds through either platform, not just those who are going off specs.

With minimal maintenance and ammo they feed and fire reliably I have no issue whatsoever. You need to take the time to find out what ammo they like.
