How's the military surplus market looking these days? I remember when you could get a Mosin for less than $100 and stock up on surplus ammo without worrying. Now it feels like everything is either running low or priced like it's a rare collectible. Are there still some good deals out there if you know where to search, or have most of the great imports already been picked over? Is it still worth it?

Pretty well dried up. WWII was a long time ago and most anything after that involved Full Autos. Import restrictions as well have killed a lot of sources.

There are still batches of Portuguese Mausers coming through but way high overpriced. Mosin Nagant's still popping up on sites.. Also lots of Swiss rifles like the Schmidt Rubins and others. Noting like stacks of them on tables at gun shows though. Still spots of SKS's popping up also. Depends what you want and expect to pay dearly. Just like Garands and M1 carbines.

I remember barrels of $65 SKS's next to the barrels of $35 Mosins!!!
Yes the SKS's I bought were from years ago when my sons were young.. Bought a few for $70 at the gun shows. They all had boxes of them stacked on tables. Grabbed two of the short carbines they called Paratroopers. The Mosin Nagant 91/30's were $45 and the M44 &M38's were a tad bit more but all were in pristine condition I bought. Ammo for them was $70 a crate of two spam cans.
