BSA Armatic 22 semi auto I found in gun shop today

I collect many types of rifles but really like 22 rimfires and odd ball rifles. I came across two BSA 22 rifles today at a shop near me. I had to get this one as I never seen one here before. Was evidently imported by another shop near me as stamped small on barrel. Very fine mirror bluing and light. I am wondering if barrel was already threaded when imported or done later and is it for a Can. ???

Threads were definitely cut post bluing. Of course in Europe a can is merely considered a courtesy to those around you not some evil device to be taxed and regulated!
