Do the newest pistol designs actually bring about real technological progress, or are companies merely making slight, cosmetic changes?

 It feels more like refinement than any kind of revolution. We're seeing better ergonomics and triggers but nothing that completely changes how we actually shoot.

Yeah, mostly refinement now...better ergonomics and optics support not huge breakthroughs like people expect.

I will say they are small steps forward than any huge jumps these days. We're getting better ergonomics and triggers but nothing that totally changes the whole game for me personally.

Mostly cosmetic with occasional genuine improvements buried inside. Optics cuts and improved ergonomics matter but the fundamental pistol hasn't changed much since Browning figured most of it out.
