100yd group going to work on 200yd today. I may see if I can squeeze out a little more fps.

The shot you want to worry about is that first shot from a cold, clean barrel. Otherwise you will have to keep shooting until the barrel is suitably warm and fouled until it hits where it did at the range. Where are you hunting where you are stretching things that far?

I'm rocking a 280ai with a 700 action, a 26" Hart stainless #4 barrel, and a McMillan stock. On top, I've got a Leica Amplus 6 2.5x15x56i.

I'm using Vihtavuori N160, Peterson brass, and Berger 140gr.

My shooting range is 625 yards.

I hunt all over, from Maryland to New Mexico.

For Maryland deer season, it really depends on where I'm hunting in the next two weeks. I could be shooting anywhere from 50 to 350 yards. The longer shots aren't my favorite, but I do practice out to 500, just not with this rifle. I'll shoot this one out to 225 yards, mostly to see what it and I can do. Reloading and hunting are my hobbies, and if I miss, it's always on me, not the gun or ammo. Yeah, I've missed my share of nice deer, they're few and far between, but it happens. Own the best you can afford and learn it, whether it's a Mossberg 500 or a setup in the thousands. I'm in a place where I can do better than that Mossberg 500 I have in my gun cabinet now, the deer really don't care LOL. I've never had one complain because I shot them with a cheap shotgun or expensive rifle.
