I just started working on a new load for my 9mm to use in IDPA matches. Trying different bullet weights and powders to find that sweet spot. Would love to hear what others are working on and any successful load recipes!

For matches and high volume loads I like Berry's or Xtreme plated bullets. They are cheap enough and won't tear up steel and other targets nearly as much. If you are talking about seriously stepping up your game you will be developing loads specific to YOUR gun. To start you will need a chronograph, solid rest and I like 25yds for determining handgun accuracy. I'm fortunate that my "Shooting Bench" is about 15' from where I reload.
My process is to start low and work up. I have a bunch of primed and prepped cases ready and set my Lee Perfect powder measure verifying settings with a scale. I usually load 3 and shoot over the chronograph for groups. You'll find the Sweet Spot for the combination when groups start opening back up or you reach max loads. I usually will have multiple weight bullets, several powders and a variety of primers available.
If you can't shoot near your reloading press a Lee Hand press is perfect for seating at the range. Get a stand for your powder measure and take the scale and crono with you. I have dozens of loads worked up for my specific guns but that doesn't mean any of them will do the same in yours.
