Does anyone know how the curio & relic ffl works in MD? I was thinking of getting one because it supposedly allows you to buy anything over 50 years old in or out of state. If anyone knows anything about or is familiar with how it works, I would appreciate more knowledge before I invest in one.
Thank you

The C&R Type 3 is pretty cool but MD being MD means it's not quite as simple as other states :( Federal side is easy, 30 bucks for 3years, fill out the ATF paperwork, get fingerprinted and you're good. Basically lets you buy stuff that's 50+ years old or on the ATF's C&R list and have it shipped straight to your house from dealers or other C&R holders. Here's the thing though, MD still makes you jump through their hoops for regulated stuff. Handguns and their definition of "assault weapons" still gotta go through the whole 77R song and dance with MSP even if you have the C&R so no skipping the wait or background check there. Where it's actually useful is for old milsurp rifles, C&R pistols that aren't banned, collector shotguns, that kind of thing. No transfer fees, no driving to an FFL just ships to your door. If you're into old military guns like Mosins, Enfields, Swiss rifles, it pays for itself pretty quick. The application's not bad, just prints and the form. I'd say if you're planning to grab more than like 3 or 4 C&R guns it's worth it otherwise maybe not. Anyone else here running a C&R that wants to add their 2 cents?
